Tyler Has Words is the blog of Tyler Patrick Wood, a writer/musician from Texas. You'll get free book excerpts twice a week. On the other days, you'll get words. If you would like an original take on everything by an expert on nothing, this might be a cool place to hang out.

Post 135:

There’s a push and pull to most challenging things in life. The things that are hardest to achieve require a lot of wrestling. Like hooking a big fish; if you don’t mind your pole and stick with it, it’ll get away. Sometimes the only thing to do is let out a little line, take it easy for a second. This can be hard—most of us want to yank and yank until that sucker is in the boat.

Yeah. Fishing analogies. But whatever you’re trying to catch, a little subtlety and grace can’t hurt.

I think it’s dutiful and smart to be prepared and studied as possible, no matter the situation. On the other hand, I’ve seen myself and others hampered by too much head and not enough heart.

It all comes down to wisdom, and the wisdom to know when to use it. Two different things, I think. I think it might be wise to shut up now. See you after.
