About Old Pictures

            It’s hard to get things right. At best, a crapshoot. Have you ever looked back on a picture from fifteen years ago? Ten years ago? Twenty?

            Something about that picture will most likely make you cringe. The way you had your hair, the cut of your jeans, that weight problem, how skinny you were… unless you’re rarified, a piece of that picture is worthy of an eye roll.

            For me, at least, it’s the same when I look back on how I once was. What I once believed. My former ethos. I was way off.

            Or was I?

            Maybe I’m off now.                                                    

            The point is, a lot of our conduct and a good chunk of our worldviews are based on trends and fashion. Blending in the crowd, or at least a crowd.

            You may think this is bollocks, but before giving me a firm dismissal, ask yourself if you’ll feel the same way about things ten years from now.

            They say people never really change. I disagree. I’ve seen the pictures. I remember. The past doesn’t lie to us unless we let it.

            Some things to chew while we look back and move forward.
