About Shit There
Post 1054:
It’s not really my style to believe in karma or some ultimate balance in the force. Seems like things are too random, some occurrences completely without cause or at the very least beyond our comprehension. That’s cool I guess.
I guess.
While I can’t buy into a completely cause and effect universe, I can accept it for most circumstances. For instance, if you work hard, you’ll be rewarded. Generally. Mostly. Usually. Never mind the exceptions right now.
Let’s talk rewards since I already brought it up, and because when its said and done and all the philosophy and spirituality and high-flying rhetoric is spun around our heads, most of us are just looking to cash in our chips and get THERE. It’s why we struggle or, at the very least, why we tell ourselves we struggle.
Ambitions and ideas of THERE vary from person to person of course, but usually achieving your goal or arriving at your destination requires taking a lot of shit. That’s okay. The shit is a good thing because it makes you better and the reward pure. So really, the shit is the shit.
I know people that have reached their THERE without too much struggle. It’s not always a pretty picture. They can’t live in that skin because they didn’t grow into it over time in a natural progression. You probably know the type. Maybe some guy at work got promoted who doesn’t deserve it. Yeah, he looks happy, but he knows everyone’s talking about his useless ass and he actually hates himself a little. Now he’s in the double hot seat, having to deal with all that baggage while trying to grow into that skin he doesn’t deserve. Sound rewarding? Eh. Only if he’s a wanker without a soul. And that’s possible.
So I guess the trick is to consider the struggle a reward in itself or apart of the larger prize. That sits well enough. I don’t hate it. And yes, you could call this a cope post because I haven’t reached my personal reward. That’s actually a good point and something I’m going to struggle with right after I finish. Shit. Oh wait, that’s part of the deal. Nice.
Cheers and see you after.
