About Enlightened Fashions

Post 1615:

It’s strange, what fashions come back around. You see someone wearing a thing that was cool for a year thirty years ago and abandoned by everyone. There it is again. And then you see it when you go out or on TV, frigging everywhere. It spreads quickly. This attempt at aesthetics that was wholly rejected is now undeniably the thing that must be had.

Fashion is weird. I’m not just talking about clothes. Certain kinds of things are right for certain times. I can’t tell who chooses this stuff. I’ve heard about trendsetters and influencers and deciders. People at the top of some pyramid who help us make up our minds.

I guess there’s nothing wrong with that. Because we have important things to do. We’re important people. Unique individuals with singular dreams and rare desires. So we should all wear the same basic uniform and watch the same show and read the same books.

Having your own thoughts, opinions, and fashion is hard. Why? Because you’re going to be wrong a lot. That shirt just might age poorly. Rewatching a show you love years from now will make you wonder what the hell was going on in your mind. It’ll happen.

But maybe that’s okay. It’s better than a whole society looking back and cringing at what didn’t age well. Until, of course, they bring it back and we do it all over again.

I hope they bring back those wigs they used to make guys wear. What a great idea. There’s nothing like putting on a disgusting unwashed rug and walking around all sorts of climates when there’s no air conditioning. I can’t imagine having a better time than sweating and itching and having it fall off and people laughing at me because my God I don’t have a wig. What kind of an idiot doesn’t have a wig?

Worn in a time called the Age of Enlightenment. It’s enough to make me question that whole damn era. How do world-changing geniuses lack the ability to look in the mirror? Perhaps there’s an inverse relation between raw intelligence and fashion sense. I’m raising a lot of amazing questions here. This is probably the most streamlined blog I’ve ever written. Remember blogs? They used to be in fashion.

Cheers and see you after.
